Aurora Metro is an independent publisher situated in an old stable building in Twickenham, near Richmond-upon-Thames, in England. The company was founded by writer and editor, Cheryl Robson and a group of women writers in 1989, but is now run by a small dedicated team with an experienced Managing Editor, Rebecca Gillieron taking it confidently forward into its third decade.

In 2010, we celebrated 21 years of publishing with a fine list of over 150 international authors including Germaine Greer, Benjamin Zephaniah, Meera Syal, Jean-Claude Carriere, Nawal el Saadawi and Carole Hayman. We also develop and publish new authors and welcome Submissions from unpublished authors as well as from agents and literary consultancies.

Fiction is the life-blood of the publishing industry and we believe it's essential to find new voices.

In 2009, we launched The Virginia Prize for Fiction to discover and help promote new women novelists. You can hear recent winner Louise Soraya Black talking about her novel Pomegranate Sky by clicking here. We also care about encouraging young people to enjoy reading so we have published an acclaimed list of Teen Fiction aimed at the 11 to 18 age range, and over half of these have been shortlisted for Literary Prizes.

Translation is one of our passions and we believe in bringing the best foreign authors to an English readership in good, accessible translation. We have authors from over 20 countries represented in our list, mostly translated into English for the first time.

Theatre is another mainstay - with around 100 playtexts published and around 20 play collections to date. We publish established playwrights writing new plays and have an excellent list of drama for young people. We also have some interesting new adaptations of old favourites such as The Jungle Book, A Christmas Carol and Merlin and the Cave of Dreams.

Arts
In association with the extensive drama list we also have Non-Fiction books on Theatre and in 2011 we launched a new imprint SUPERNOVA BOOKS to further explore Culture and the Arts in innovative ways with Rupert Booth's biography on Patrick McGoohan, Not A Number proving popular.

Awards
In recognition of the company's work, our titles have been awarded The Raymond Williams Prize, The Pandora Award and the Gourmand World Cookbook Special Jury Prize for Peace and Best Innovative Foodbook as well as being shortlisted for many others.

Our books are available from all good bookshops, internet suppliers or by mail order from: orders@aurorametro.com or telephone 020 3261 0000.
