Author Talk: Virginia Woolf in Richmond, Marylebone Library

Monday 12 November 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Come and meet the Author of this new title about Virginia Woolf and her time spent in Richmond.

In this talk Peter Fullagar will provide insights into Virginia Woolf’s life in the town and explores her feelings connected to it, as well as the work she was doing during that period, 1914 – 1924.
Many people recall the quote “If it is a choice between Richmond and death, I choose death.”, but did you know that this isn’t a Virginia Woolf original, but Sir David Hare’s from the screenplay of The Hours. This book and talk will provide a more rounded view of her life and work whilst in Richmond, demonstrating that that she was far fonder of Richmond and her time there than one quote from The Hours would suggest.

Peter Fullagar is a published writer and editor, formerly an English teacher, who ventured to live in Tokyo and Moscow to teach Business English. He became fascinated by the works of Virginia Woolf while studying for his Masters in English Literature and Language. Peter was recently interviewed for the forthcoming film about the project to fund, create and install a new full-sized bronze statue of Virginia Woolf in Richmond-upon-Thames.

His short stories and articles have been published in anthologies and magazines including  English Teaching Professional as well as The Huffington Post. You can visit his website at www.peterjfullagar.co.uk
