Ellen Cheshire contributing author to our book Silent Women: Pioneers of Cinema and the accompanying booklet in this new BFI Blu-ray boxset on Early Women Filmmakers and Bryony Dixon, Head of Silent Film at the BFI who wrote the foreword for our book celebrating early women filmmakers, are speakings at this launch, alongside writer and film historian Pamela Hutchinson (Silent London) and Virginie Selavy (Electric Sheep).

Join us in celebrating the work of women filmmaker pioneers, including Alice Guy-Blaché, Lois Weber, Mrs Wallace Reid, Germaine Dulac and many more. This special evening will include screenings of selected short films and extracts illustrating the innovative and boundary-pushing nature of their work, plus a discussion with guest speakers who will explore their individual approaches to filmmaking and their contributions to the history of cinema.
