Silent Women in Sight & SoundPamela Hutchinson has reviewed our new book Silent Women: Pioneers of Cinema in the April issue of the internationally acclaimed film magazine Sight & Sound published by the British Film Institute.silent-women-book

In her (almost) full page review Pamela said “The book gallops across silent film history, extracting names long known only to aficionados and building up a retrospective  network of female talent.”

She highlighted Kevin Brownlow’s chapter, a previously unpublished interview with Dorothy Arzner as a “highlight” and praised it by saying “Silent Women, in uncovering a diverse range of female voices from the past, offers a variety of present voices… On this evidence, the relative diversity of the industry’s past should shame it into taking action in the future.”
