Barbara Slater OBE (1959-) is the Director of BBC Sport. She is a former gymnast who
represented Great Britain at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.
Slater’s father, Bill, was a professional footballer who played for England, won
the Footballer of the Year award in 1960, and won three Football League titles with
Wolverhampton Wanderers. Her uncle, J J Warr, played for the England cricket team.
As a gymnast, she won the Champions All, British Championships.
