Bunny Christie OBE (1962 –) is one of the most imaginative Production Designers
working in theatre in the UK today. She was born in St Andrews, Scotland and
educated at Madras College in Fife before training at Central St Martin’s School of Art
in London.
From early on in her career she was designing at the Royal Court, Edinburgh Traverse
Theatre and at The National Theatre. In 2000, she designed her first large-scale set for Lucy
Bailey’s production of Tennessee Williams’s Baby Doll for the Birmingham Repertory
Theatre, which later transferred to the Lyttleton stage at the Royal National Theatre and
ran in the West End. It was described by The Evening Standard as “a loomingly spectacular
design” and earned Christie her first Evening Standard Award for Best Design.
