Deitra is considered one of Chicago's top vocalists. She has been nominated for Traditional Female Blues Artist of the year by the W.C. Handy Awards, among many others such as the British Blues Connection Awards.
In 2015, she was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame, and in 2016 she was awarded The Most Popular Blues Artist Award by the National Southern Soul Foundation.
