Dorka Talmon (1906-1957) was born in Poland and became one of the founding members of Kibbutz Ein Hachoresh . The Kibbutz was set up in 1931/2 in Palestine (since 1948 – Israel). Talmon was a very active member of that socialist movement in Poland and was sent on its behalf to assist those who wanted to 'make immigration' (עליה) to Palestine in the 1930s. Talmon died in 1957 after a long illness.‘First Steps’ was taken from a collection of writings compiled in a booklet and distributed to Kibbutz members to celebrate its 30th anniversary (1961). It was never formally published and remains in the Kibbutz’s archive.
