Pippa Ailion has worked as a Casting Director since 1987. She has cast over 200
productions in the West End, regional UK tours, US tours, Broadway and European
productions, as well as seasons at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Chichester Festival
Theatre and Crucible Theatre Sheffield. She now specializes in the field of Musical
Theatre, with a particular prominence in finding Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic
performers.
She began her theatrical career as a Drama and English teacher, then as a performer
for Theatre-In-Education companies in Greenwich and at the Northcott Theatre in
Exeter. She went on to assist world-renowned playwright Neil Simon, before becoming
a Company Manager and Assistant Director on Mark Medoff’s award-winning play
Children of a Lesser God. She was given the opportunity to mount the play in different
countries around the world, which helped ignite an interest in casting. She then became
Company Manager/Resident Director on a production of West Side Story.
